I use a kitchen aide stand mixer now, but my take on hand mixers... Buy a cheap one and see how long it lasts. I've had a cheap one that I spent $10 at least 15 years ago. Yes, it too smells like it's going to catch fire and since I have the stand mixer I don't use it (I either use stand mixer or mix by hand). We haven't had a h...Maybe try KitchenAid brand? We haven't had a hand mixer in years (those were fun, though!), but we do have a stand mixer by KitchenAid that we're very pleased with.
