Piece of cake/Introduction

A Cake a Day...means you have enough to share!

Did you know that there are only 27 Fridays (six months) until my 30th Birthday?

While I won't be baking a cake a day, I thought that I would spend a little more time in the kitchen in the coming weeks.  I'm thinking of a post a week, but it's okay with me if I skip a week...one must remain calm and life happens, but I may keep going after this book- you know go on to another book, but that depends on how you all like this new blog!

I really like the movie "Julie and Julia", but there is no way that I can cook through a book like that, and really have no inclination to learn to cook that much French food....so what would I enjoy? What would my family & friends enjoy?

The answer is a "Piece of cake" by Maggie Mayhew, given to me by my dear friend Sally H.H.
There are "...43 mouth-watering recipes..." in this little book, but for sanity's sake, I'm only going to try for 27 of them. (I'm skipping some of the ones that call for really interesting and harder to find ingredients...not that the ones Mom and I picked out aren't interesting- they are, and I'm already wondering how I'll afford all the butter, eggs, special kinds of chocolate and fresh fruit they call for!)  =)

Do I think that this project will save me, or mature me or that I will somehow "find myself"~ no, I don't think that is very likely, it just sounded like good, tasty fun- something that I would like to do that I do not think that I could do if I was married and had children.

So, all that said...would you like to read along on my adventure with me (& Mom- I don't think she'll be able to escape the general sticky and dustiness that I'm sure that our kitchen and I'll be in)???

 ~Adrienne
P.S. I'll need help eating the sticky and dusty treats, too... =)

P.S.S. If you want to help sponsor Pearls in the Kitchen let me know.

"Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart:
wait, I say, on the LORD."  Psalms 27:14
